Tim Burton's Frankenweenie Review

Our family was extremely excited to have the opportunity to review Tim Burton's Frankenweenie! We have been talking about it since it made its way to theaters last year. Available on 4-Disc Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, Digital and On Demand as of January 8, 2013. The synopsis says "From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous."

We decided since this was a 3D movie we would take it to my parents to watch since they have at least ten sets of 3D glasses. The entire family gathered around to watch and to my surprise, Declan never left his seat. I figured since it was in black and white it might not have his attention the whole time. I have to say, we must be a slightly morbid family as we found humor is the entire movie and were cracking jokes together! We did try to make humor in even the sad/slightly scary parts to keep the kids laughing and enjoying the movie. Frankenweenie even perfectly followed the same story line as Frankenstein which we all thought was really cool.

Check out Questions and Answers with Director Tim Burton, voice actor Martin Short, as well as Producer Allison Abbate, Production Designer Rick Heinrichs and Executive Producer Don Hahn.  You can also find all sorts of fun facts on the making of the movie!
 Release Formats & Suggested Retail Price: 4-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack = $49.99 US/$56.99 Canada. 2-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack = $39.99 US/$46.99 Canada. 1-Disc DVD = $29.99 US/$35.99 Canada
Recommendation: I would definitely recommend this movie to most anyone! I will say it was very typical of Tim Burton in that it was a bit dark and dreary. There were funny moments throughout that we were all able to laugh at through the 3 generations of my family!
