Children's Mucinex Review

Children's Mucinex Multi-Symptom Cold
When my girls get sick I feel helpless.  I try to make them as comfortable as I can, but worry about giving them certain medications due to adverse side effects that they tend to have.  Like so many parents we want our kids to get over colds quickly.  There is nothing worse than telling your kids they can’t go somewhere because they have a runny nose.  So when I was given the opportunity to review children’s Mucinex Multi-Symptom Cold (Berry Flavor) I was super excited to see how Mikayla would react.

Mucinex for adults is an amazing product that has helped me knock the duration of my cold to a day or two, instead of suffering for a week or longer.  I was curious to see if the Children’s Mucinex would work in the same way, or would it just be like the other children’s cold/allergy medications.  Note that this product is safe to use for children over 4 years of age.  It is an expectorant, cough suppressant and nasal decongestant.

When Mikayla came down with a cold on Tuesday, it brought the perfect opportunity to test out this product.  I started to give her 5 ml (based on her age and weight according to the package) of the Mucinex on Wednesday morning.  The stuff this girl sneezed out was amazing (gross yes) but got it out.  After the first initial dose the sneezing was lessened and her coughing was gone about a half hour later.  By Friday Morning, I felt she no longer needed to continue taking the medication, since her cold was on its way out.  I loved that Mikayla had no adverse reaction to this product as she has to other cold/allergy medicines that are on the market.  I only wish I could have given it to Hannah, who caught the cold too, but since she just turned 2, I had to opt for a medicine that she could/would take.   Mikayla loved the flavor, and didn’t fight me on having to take her medicine.
Price/Available to Purchase: $13-$15 a 4 oz bottle at your local drug store
Recommendation: Although this is a little expensive in my opinion for medicine.  I believe in the quality and the quickness that this product brings relief.  It is definitely worth the money knowing that your little one will not suffer with cold symptoms for very long.  This is a must have in the medicine cabinet during cold season.
