Maui Jim Banzai Sunglasses Review and #Giveaway

HAPPY NATIONAL SUNGLASSES DAY!!!
It's really funny and he may kill me for this but Kevin is very particular about his accessories.  I am usually one of those people who does just fine with the cheap stuff and I usually try to force that on Kevin in order to save money.  He gets really annoyed by this though because you honestly get what you pay for in most things.  Sunglasses are usually one of the areas you really don't want to skimp on.

During the summer we spend a lot of time at the pool or local beaches and also actively play on an adults softball league.  Its really important to have the whole families eyes properly protected.  A lot of people don't realize that the cheap sunglasses which are usually sold in novelty stores, contain no actual protection.  They are also made out of crappy materials so they fall apart easily.

Maui Jim is anything but poor quality!  "In 2004, PolarizedPlus®2 technology revolutionized the sunglass market - patented, color-enhancing treatments in the form of rare earth elements were added to our lenses to really pop the colors your eye takes in."  Thankfully, they agreed to send me over two totally awesome pairs to review - Banzai and North Point styles.

The Banzai style is listed as perfect for leisure activities such as golf.  Designed with a sporty, rimless wrap these sunglasses are unisex and can fit a variety of face shapes.  Kevin liked these but felt like they were a little thin for his liking.  He was very afraid they would break if the kids got a hold of them which is always a concern of ours since they like to wear them often!

The North Point style is a more rugged, modified aviator frame  perfect for any activity or just sporting them around town.   Kevin loves this pair as he keeps a close watch on them (in the case of course) when they aren't on his face.  These are a very manly style which I think look just plain sexy on him!  Both style sunglasses are even treated so they are saltwater safe.

I love their philosophy as it truly shows the Hawaiian spirit.  "Our “ohana” (Hawaiian for family) is passionate about creating the best sunglasses on the planet. Because at the end of the day, we want to see the world at its best - and we know that you do, too, no matter where you live. "

Cost/Available to Purchase:  $159  Banzai
$279 North Point
Recommendation:   I think these are all great and really awesome quality too!  I think that if you are one of those people who buys endless pairs of sunglasses and they continuously break on you, then this is an investment to make.  I don't really see myself paying this much for a pair no matter how great they are only because I am so cheap!

  13. I bought my daughter a pair of Maui Jims for her birthday, after doing extensive research for the best sunglasses I could possibly afford. After reading numerous reviews, Maui Jim won hands down. They have not disappointed. My daughter absolutely loves them! She is a commercial driver, so a good pair of sunglasses is crucial. She says they are the best sunglasses she has ever owned.

  14. I'd love a pair of Maui Jims! I never realized the big deal about polarized sunglasses, until I took a trip to Maui and got to see polarized lenses in action- It's like magic when you look into the surf and can see the reef, and even fish and turtles swimming that you otherwise cannot see with the naked eye. It'll be a long time before I ever see Maui again, but I would settle for a pair of Maui Jims in the meantime ;)

  26. How awesome that they sent you two different styles to review. I found that if I pay more for something I am much more careful with it instead of thinking that if was so inexpensive it is no big deal. I think I have ended up saving money on some things this way. I would really love a pair of these quality sunglasses. I am getting to the age that is showing the damage from the sun living in Florida has done and I should be protecting my eyes better than I have been.
