2014 Kia Sorento EX V6 Review

Recently I was given a unique opportunity to review a product I hadn't really thought of before the offer came in.  As a non-specific product reviewer, I like to keep a wide variety of reviews flowing through the blog so there is something for everyone!  I really consider my blog to have more than one focus.  So this time around, I was sent over a 2014 Kia Sorento EX V6 to review and share with all of you!

First off I am gonna start by saying never have I considered purchasing or leasing a Kia vehicle.  I have nothing against the car its just never seemed to be in my thoughts as an optional vehicle.  So I was a bit hesitant at first.  Once the vehicle arrived, we first noticed the beautiful blue color and even though this SUV looked smaller on the outside, there was a ton of room once we jumped inside.

The 2014 Kia Sorento EX V6 has some really awesome features that I personally was pretty impressed with.  These include a Rear Camera Display and Backup Warning System, so you can keep an eye out as you back up for more than just moving objects (children, grocery carts) but possible bikes parked behind you or even trees or barriers.

Our model had the 8" Display Navigation System with Sirius Traffic which is a feature that gives you real-time highway conditions.  Kevin thought this was a very nice feature to have as he works in downtown Detroit where he frequently runs into issues with heavy traffic, accidents, and road work.

Also included in our model was both heated and ventilated front seats.  Living in Michigan you almost need both as our winters are so frigid, hopping into a cold leather car seat you feel as though you could end up with instant front bite on your butt!!  The weather here is so unpredictable that in the week we had this vehicle, we were able to use both the heat and cooling on the seats!

We really liked the 40/20/40 split 2nd row seating AND the 50/50 split 3rd row seating as we not only have 3 children to cart around but one of which is a teenager whom we need to drive several of her friends around town too!  This makes fitting everyone in one car easy as well as having access to the rear seats when we had our car seats installed.

I was most impressed with the Blind Spot Detection System which at first scared me as I was driving this for the first time.  I had no idea why my side mirror were blinking and I thought I had possibly something wrong with the car.  Whenever there is a vehicle in your possible blind spot (on the side of your vehicle) the mirror flashes a warning to keep you from changing lanes while unaware.  After getting used to this it seems as though a feature you almost don't want to live without.

I have to say though, one of the hardest features to get used to was the Push Button Start with Smart Key.  With this option you can start or stop the engine with the push of a button as long as the key fob is detected inside the vehicle.  The only use for the key in my eyes is to lock and unlock the vehicle.  It was just too weird not using a key to start my car!

"The Sorento is equipped with safety systems that are designed to help minimize injuries when an accident is unavoidable.  An advanced system of airbags, including the dual front airbags and the driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, is designed to help protect occupants."

I wish I could copy and paste the picture they had on their website on this page because it makes the inside of your car look like a padded room!  Keeping me feeling confident my family is protected.  We even had the opportunity to drive this vehicle in the rain quite a bit through the week and I was extremely impressed with the way it handled in these types of conditions!

Available to Purchase/Cost: Starting at $24,100
Recommendation:  This is a vehicle I would definitely recommend to any small family, couple, or single!  The features are all there and totally in tune with the pricing of the vehicle.  You are going to feel as though you are driving a luxury vehicle at a standard price!
