One of my biggest pet peeves (haha pet peeves ) of cat owners is those who let them run wild outside. This is terrible for them in more ways than we realize! However, just because my cats are indoor cats, I still would never declaw one of them. No matter how much of a pain they can be to my furniture, I still want to make sure if they ever escaped they would be able to defend themselves.
However we have come up with two issues over the last few years. First we have found that when we lock our older cat up now in a bedroom she will try to scratch her way out at the door carpeting. Second, my older dog who has a sensitive stomach has decided to pull up some carpeting from the edge of the kitchen on a few nights where he was apparently sick (maybe doing something similar as eating grass?)
Not only do these spots look terrible but they can continue to get worse once the carpeting has began to pull up. Thankfully we discovered the Cat Scratch Stopper! The Cat Scratch Stopper is the original cat-proof carpet protector for your doorway. This is a plastic mat similar to those you would find under a desk chair.
Since we know we already have to fix this carpeting, we are currently using our Cat Scratch Stopper to cover the spots until we find time to replace it. Although I am pretty pumped to have this now going into our new home (which we are currently searching for). This will help keep things as nice as possible when we move our animals with us.
Available to purchase/Cost: $24.95 Carpet Scratch Stopper
Recommendation: Totally love this product! Not only did I barely notice it in my doorway, it has kept the animals from clawing any further on the already destroyed carpet. I plan on buying one for most any doorway in my home once we move into the new one!
