Disney's The Lone Ranger Review

Now we are obviously a family full of movie buff's, but there are just some movies we know we are going to buy the day they are released!  Today (December 17th), one of those movies became available on Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy)!  The Lone Ranger has been one we have readily waited to see and own!

Kevin was the most excited to see the film and had to watch it the moment it arrived in the mail!  With an amazing cast lined up to include Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, William Fichtner, Tom Wilkinson and Helena Bonham Carter, this was bound to be a success.  I am not quite as hardcore of a Johnny Depp fan as others like my sister, but I do believe he is one of the best actors of our time.  His ability to play a role flawlessly is somthing I truly admire.

The synopsis says "Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer star in The Lone Ranger, from Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Director Gore Verbinski. It’s a wild ride of high velocity action, explosions and gunfights that brings the famed masked legend to life through brand-new eyes. The Lone Ranger (Hammer), the last of his kind, teams with Tonto (Depp), a dark and mysterious vigilante, to seek vengeance after justice has failed them. It’s a runaway train of epic surprises, as these two unlikely heroes must learn to work together before the ultimate showdown between good and evil explodes."

Included are several bonus materials including: Deleted Scenes, Riding The Rails Of The Lone Ranger (into the making and the details of the trains used), Armies’s Western Road Trip (inside look at the beautiful scenes visited), Becoming A Cowboy (exactly as it sounds...learning to shoot, ride a horse, etc.) and of course our favorite...the Blooper Reel!

With such an all-star cast it really is hard to go wrong.  It did start off a little slow but keep with it because you will be laughing your pants off and even possibly shedding a few tears before you are half way into the movie! We all watched this as a family and honestly the kids were a bit bored in the beginning but it quickly caught the attention of boys once the action started and then kept it throughout the rest of the movie.

Recommendation:  I would recommend this for anyone at any age and especially for families.  It would even make a great gift to someone who is trying to conceive and possibly a very touching gesture.

  1. Nice review Randi. Can’t say I absolutely hated it, but I didn’t like it either. I was just bored out of my mind.
