Best Man Down DVD Review and #Giveaway

Today (January 21st, 2014), a new comedy drama, Best Man Down, hits the shelves from Magnolia Home Entertainment.  After seeing the line up of the cast, I thought this was going to be a great comedy!  Actors include "Justin Long (“New Girl,” Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story), Jess Weixler (“The Good Wife”), Tyler Labine (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, “Reaper”), Addison Timlin (Stand Up Guys, Derailed), Shelley Long (“Modern Family,” “Cheers”) and Golden Globe® nominee Frances O’Connor (“Mr. Selfridge,” The Hunter)."

The synopsis says "A newlywed couple cancels their honeymoon and returns to the snowy Midwest to make the funeral arrangements for their best man, who died unexpectedly after their ceremony."

A movie which starts off looking to be a modern love story with some snarky characters turns weird as the best man dies.  Justin Long's character discovers he didn't really know much about his friend after all.  I decided to watch this one with Alana being that it was rated PG-13 which turned out to be a mistake.  Some of the secrets uncovered throughout the firm were more along an adult subject line.

Alana felt it was NOT a very appropriate movie.  Alana has been exposed to quite a bit and is not by any means sheltered.  The adult geared jokes, I can understand as they weren't too crude for young eyes and ears.  However, the young teenage who is "dating" the best man (somewhere in his 20's) and also discussing drug use throughout their meetings, seems quite inappropriate for a PG-13 movie!

Price: $29.98 (Blu-ray)/$26.98 (DVD)
Recommendation:  To be honest, I liked the film quite a bit however, I don't think it was rated correctly.  I would say being the quality and nature, it might be a much more appropriately rated R and something more geared towards a young adult crowd possibly.  I also think it is priced a bit too high even though the cast is quite the fantastic one.
