I've said to my husband several times in the past that I swore I would NEVER be one of those women that measured out every little thing I ate.  I never believed I would be dieting to this extreme or frequency either.  That was of course before I realized women get old and their bodies completely change with age especially after having children!  I have just become so lazy with honestly taking care of myself first and foremost.  I feel so overwhelmed with responsibilities at times that exercise almost seems impossible!

One of my biggest obstacles in my weight loss has been portion sizes.  I can go hours or most of the day without eating, but once I start I don't seem to know when to stop.  I am an overeater for sure and of course now it's finally catching up with me.  That and when I do eat I have a skewed idea in my head of what the portion sizes are.
After much thought and discussion as to what would possibly help me, I decided I should give a food scale a try (although still hesitant).  MIRA Brands graciously sent me over two different high quality scales - the Glass Digital Kitchen Scale and Stainless Steel Kitchen Scale.

The MIRA Touch Professional Digital Glass Kitchen Scale is stunning in my opinion!  It's almost so pretty I feel like it should just be used as a display!  Made with a royal blue tempered glass, this scale has an extra large LCD with advanced touch sensitive buttons for easy operation.  The MIRA Digital Stainless Steel Kitchen Scale has a large easy to read display and the stainless steel platform easily wipes clean.
I love these scales since not only do they easily wipe clean but both are very compact.  I can store these with my cook books, in a drawer, or on the counter top for quick access (without taking up any additional room).  I do have to say again that the glass one is so pretty I have it sitting on my counter more as decor/display whereas the stainless steel one is a drawer for easy access.

Both scales measure in grams, ounces, pounds and the "tare function ignores boxes, plates and dishes; weighing only the food inside or on the kitchen scale". They also can measure up to 11 pounds and measure in 1g/0.1 oz increments as well as come with a 2 year manufacturer guarantee.  Being able to quickly and accurately measure out my food has helped me keep an accurate food log as well as giving me a better visual of what a portion should look like.

Available to purchase/Cost:  $29.99 MIRA Digital Stainless Steel Kitchen Scale
$22.95 MIRA Glass Digital Kitchen Scale
Recommendation: This is a great purchase at this price for something so nice and definitely a company worth checking out other products from as they are high quality (compared to what I've seen elsewhere).  This would make a great gift for the kitchen chef or the conscientious friend trying to lose some weight.
