Tad: The Lost Explorer DVD Review

We were recently asked to review the movie Tad: The Lost Explorer which became available from Cinedigm on DVD, on January 14th, 2014.  I hadn't heard of Tad before this and nor had the children, but it was released in 2013 exclusively available at Walmart and the kids had thought they might have seen it there "when shopping with Grandma".  So we thought it might be the perfect snow day movie for the boys!

The synopsis says "Construction worker Tad Stones often daydreams of an exciting life as an adventurer. One day, his dreams come true when he is mistaken for a famous archeologist and is whisked off to Peru while in possession of a sacred key. Soon Tad is caught in a thrilling race against evil treasure hunters as he joins a professor and his beautiful daughter in their search for the Lost City of Paititi. It’s the adventure of a lifetime in this hilarious, action-packed film the whole family will love!"

Packed with all star voices and music from One Direction, this film has won several awards!  The action in this film definitely reflects just that.  The boys said they loved Tad's adventure and were quite excited to follow along most of the movie.  However, Dane decided he wasn't a fan about half way through when there was a scene "with spooky eyes following Tad, trying to get him" says Dane.  This really surprised me since my kiddos watch all levels of horror but I guess it just wasn't for them.

Recommendation:  I thought the quality of the films and even the story line was a pretty good one.  I don't know if I'd buy it again since the boys didn't seem that interested in finishing the DVD all the way to the end and that alone is unusual for them.
