Klondike DVD Review and #Giveaway - Discovery Channel Series

On June 10th, 2014, Cinedigm released Discovery Channel’s first ever scripted series, Klondike, on a two disc collection on blu-ray and DVD.  After seeing the cast list, I knew it was something we would enjoy.  Starring Richard Madden, Sam Shepard, Abbie Cornish, Augustus Prew, and Tim Roth.  This is a series, you will get sucked into right away!

The synopsis says "Based on actual events, Klondike tells the story of the last great Gold Rush in history. In 1897 two friends make the perilous journey through North American wilderness to the Klondike boom town Dawson City, 'The Paris of the North' where murder, revenge, riches and redemption await....Klondike dives into the brutal, thrilling, get-rich-or-die-trying world of the late 1890s gold rush.  Based on Charlotte Grey’s best-selling book, Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich In The Klondike"

We honestly opened this knowing it would take us some time to watch the entire two disc set being that it is a total of 429 minutes long and with children, that can be nearly impossible to get through in months!  Within the first five minutes I was hooked.  The acting was phenomenal and felt very realistic!

I don't want to tell you much about the story line but you quickly start to relate to these gentlemen from the late 1800's.  Starting with an almost instant tragedy, you can imagine what it was like to be in a time when there wasn't the same amenities we have today as well as the the dream of making it rich...even working to death to do so!

Blu-ray Price: $20.99
DVD Price: $16.99
Recommendation:  I think this was worth the purchase and then some.  I think the cost for a series like this is much cheaper than you would find for any other show.  If you are into westerns, history, or even tragedy and drama, this is a great one to watch!
