Wings: Sky Force Heroes DVD Review and #Giveaway

We were recently asked to review Wings: Sky Force Heroes which became available on Blu-Ray Combo Pack And DVD exclusively at Walmart on July 8th, 2014.  My boys were huge fans of cars and have been talking about Planes so when we heard about this one we knew it would be a great edition to the boys collection.  Both were beyond pumped to hear the news of this latest Lionsgate release and readily awaited it's arrival!

The synopsis says "When Ace (Duhamel), a cocky young firefighter, defies his Colonel's (Skerritt) orders and recklessly attempts a solo mission, it leads to disastrous consequences.  Ace, along with Fred (Schneider), his trusty co-pilot, quits Sky Force and resigns himself to hauling coal for Mr. Steinway (Peters), until one day a fire breaks out in the mines! With the help of his friends:  Windy (Duff) and T-Bone (McCartney), Ace must overcome his fears and become the hero he was destined to be."

I was definitely correct in getting this one for them as they were psyched when it finally arrived.  They BOTH decided to watch this one the night it came in.  Dane said he was a little disappointed that the red white and blue plane he swore he saw advertised in the previews was not in the movie.  I think he may be convinced about a character in another movie!  But even without this character they both said it was action filled and they were more than excited to watch it several times in a row the first week we had it!

Cost:  $19.98 DVD /$24.99 Blu-ray DVD
Recommendation:  I thought the quality of the film could have been a bit more colorful but the story line was a sweet one about not giving up and having confidence in yourself.  I think the story alone had some great lessons that I was proud to hear my boys discuss after watching!

  3. It is best they learn early that things do not always work out as planned and to be able to adjust and look at the bright side

  4. I let them know that it will not always be this tough. I remind them of things they didn't use to know or do and how much more they can do now.

  5. I let them know that when life gets tough, they always have a home to run back to filled with people that love them and will comfort them! This gives them some control over the things they can not control.

  13. Usually when this sort of thing happens it is time to take out some one on one time. I do that and try to draw close to what is upsetting them. Sometimes it is as simple as having some down time or taking a short nap.

  20. Feedback on your blog: I don't use Twitter, so having a group entry that requires a tweet makes me unable to enter that one at all.

  24. We encourage them to stay calm, do their best and never give up. We only ask that they try their best and if that means they fail then that's OK!! Failure is how we learn, we encourage failure so we can improve ourselves. Even adults make mistakes and nobody is perfect.

  25. I encourage my daughter by telling her the only failure is not trying at all and that no one is perfect.

  28. Depends on what it is, but I either have them keep trying until they get it (if it applies) or I tell them to breathe if its just something that didn't work out and look at the bright side of things, which isn't easy because i suck at looking at the bright side, too.

  29. I encourage them by talking to them and letting them know that things will not be this way for long. Usually talking it out helps a lot.

  30. i encourage our children to keep trying even when they fall down. the only way to learn is to try and if you fail just keep on trying. i set a good example of being persistent and that seems to be the best way to teach!
