Brooklyn Brew Shop Beer Making Kit Review

It is no secret to my readers, we are big entertainers and quite the party'ers in my household.  We are also very big on beer and over the last couple years have become more seasoned drinkers when it comes to types of beer.  I find myself drawn to micro brews a lot more frequently than any of your big name brewing companies.  I can also tell you the older we get, the less we enjoy the big bar scenes!  You are likely to find my husband and I (or even a few girlfriends) hanging at a local pub or brewery on a weekend night.

Not only have we always talked about finishing our basement with a full bar but we've even dreamed of owning our bar/pub some day.  Most of my family either works in the service industry or has at one point in their lives. We just love discussing the tastes, texture, and strength of different types of brews as well as the types of foods they compliment.  We are all around your beer loving couple and group of friends!

Being that I've wanted to brew my own beer for years now, I figured it was getting to be about time to dive in.  I've had several relatives and friends who home brew and it just always appealed to Kevin and I.  So when Brooklyn Brew Shop asked if I would review one of their home brew kits, I knew it was time!

I love their thoughts on making beer at home:
"With the idea that making beer (real beer from real ingredients) can be simple, tasty, and most important, fun, we created stylish, easy-to-use Beer Making Kits designed especially for stove-top brewing and ingredient mixes for seasonally inspired beers. Our goal is to get everyone brewing by simplifying the beer making process without dumbing it down."

First off I have to say, we picked out the Summer Wheat "Light, crisp and pleasant, our Summer Wheat is brewed with American white wheat and spicy hops, making for a refreshing taste of summer all year round."  I picked this one out both because I am a huge Wheat beer fan but I also figured it would be a good one to start with for Kevin and I.

The kit comes with everything you could imagine needing to start the home brew process!  As if the kit wasn't enough, I was sent over a few extras because the team over at Brooklyn Brew Shop is that awesome!  These included a Beer Bottle Set, Bottle Capper and Caps to go with the kit.  Then, the instructions are extremely simple to follow online (through videos or downloadable instructions).

You really need no previous experience to create an amazing brew in the comfort of your own home.  We were so please with this round and how easy it has been I can tell you, we are planning on purchasing a few more kits and supplies for the new house.  We will finally be able to start brewing and entertaining with our own homemade beer!

Recommendation:  I definitely recommend buying a kit for yourself if you are a beer drinker.  I also recommend purchasing this as a gift for the beer lover in your life.  These kits are extremely easy to make and very reasonably priced!  Not only will you be pleased with your own work, you will be able to show it off proudly when entertaining!

  1. I'm not much for beer, but I know a lot of people who are. This would be a really nice gift idea!
