The Rootlets: Super Rootabilities Book Review and #Giveaway

Being that March is National Nutrition Month AND that I am an avid gardener (hoping to become farmer soon), I knew this would be a good time to start reinforcing good eating habits for my family.  My first priority in the last five years has been making these changes for my children first and foremost.  I am always trying to turn each activity together into a teaching point and of course every meal we have only the important food groups.

Each time the kids eat I am always pointing out what are good foods and what are bad.  We need to start young teaching our children how to be self sufficient and how to take care of themselves so they can do it in the years to come.  When I was asked to review the book The Rootlets: Super Rootabilities, I was pretty excited to share it with the kids!  They've been a fan in the past of shows like VegeTales and Sam Sandwich, so I figured it would be right up their alley.

The synopsis says, "The Rootlets are four fun-loving and adventurous kids, with veggie hair and healthy habits - whose lives, up until now, were undoubtedly ordinary.  In their very first adventure, Brocc, Carrotina, Cornelius and Kaley overhear shocking news that's most definitely NOT ordinary, and that's sure to change life as they know it...forever! Could it be that the Rootlets are in fact superheroes with real super powers called Rootabilities? Using clues from an old legend book, The Rootlets get to work, determined to solve the biggest mystery of their lives. Be transported to the visually magnificent and magical plant-based world of Planet Planted - where The Rootlets begin their journey to save their world from potential evil that they never knew existed.  "

I honestly thought this was an adorable book.  It's all about these kids who have a vegetable element to them.  It teaches kids not only that vegetables are not only good for you but also about friendship.  Dane and Alana read the book together and both loved it.  As a first grader, Dane was able to smoothly read through it himself and thought it was cool that The Rootlets each had special powers!  What's neat about their powers is they involve what vegetables element they have, like Carrotina has super sight whereas carrots are good for your eyes.  I found that to be a creative idea for the kids to associate the two together.

Available to purchase/Cost: $10.73 The Rootlets: Super Rootabilities (Adventures of the Rootlets)
Recommendation:  I am excited about this book and more books and education like this to come out for the children of today.  Overall I think this is a good book for parents who want their kids to learn more about their vegetables!  I think the book is worth the purchase for sure.

  3. I have always been amazed how much my almost two year old grandson loves eating his vegetables. I don't think that I have ever seen him turn his nose up to any of them. And what I really like is that he will at least try them before making his mind up about them-
