If you are an outdoors-man, homesteader, or eco enthusiast, you probably know that the use of solar power is quite the necessity.  If you aren't already using solar power in some way you need to be.  I truly believe we need to start teaching our children how to survive without all the luxuries they have become accustom to - you just never know what could happen in the future.  Alternative energy sources are important to our future on this planet.

That all being said, I am constantly on the look out for brands which can provide me with the products I need for both emergency preparedness AND to help me reduce my eco-footprint.  While browsing the internet as usual, I stumbled upon the brand Purely Solar and knew it was a brand I needed to work with.  Purely Solar carries a variety of solar products most any general needs.  Whether you are looking for something for your home, camping, or larger scale, they seem to have it (and in style).

We absolutely love the outdoors.  We are always outside gardening, playing sports, camping, or entertaining.  So I figure having quite a few quality solar products is a necessity for our lifestyle.  Since moving into the new house, Kevin and I have been specifically looking for a solar lantern for the driveway.  We've also been looking for a hanging light to go with our new solar lit gazebo.

Not only did we find both products available at Purely Solar, but they graciously agreed to send them over to us for review.  Even better the products exceeded our expectations in what we were looking for.  We were sent over the Hanging Solar Shed Light and the Gama Sonic Multipurpose Solar Plantern for review.

The Hanging Solar Shed Light might have shed in the description but we felt like it was just too stylish to use in a shed (or the chicken coop) so as soon as we get the weather to cooperate with us, we will be adding this to the center of our gazebo. Using 4 LED lights, this can run for up to 8 hours on a full charge with two settings (high or low).

My favorite part though, it comes with a key ring remote control.  So now even though it can hang from 7 inches down to 32 inches in my gazebo, I can easily turn it on or off without having to reach being as short as I am!  The black plastic actually appears to be high quality metal from a distance so it matches perfectly with the rought iron of the gazebo.  I think it would even give an antique look to any barn or large shed as well!

While we were originally looking for a basic lantern on a pole for the end of our driveway, I found the Gama Sonic Multipurpose Solar Plantern to be even better.  Now not only can I light the driveway at the street with the 4 LED lights (since we live in the middle of nowhere), but I can add my own personal beauty using the planter at the bottom.  The post height is adjustable from 21 to 37 inches depending on where you plan on placing this and your needs.

The plantern stays lit for up to 12 hours and can be used with or without the planter portion.  Although I have no idea why you wouldn't want to use the planter (unless it's winter).  I am debating between planting beautiful flowers/plants or possibly using fake ones so I don't have to worry about watering or changing over the winter.  Regardless, this looks amazing wherever you put it.

Available to purchase/Cost:  $44.99 Hanging Solar Shed Light
$44 Gama Sonic Multipurpose Solar Plantern

  1. I would love to use the plantern + planter portions together outside my house! I think it would be great to grow flowers in, thereby providing us with clean air to breathe! Additionally, the solar powered light would provide lighting outside without having to use any electricity, especially since I get tons of sunlight in my backyard!
