Zyliss FastCut Herb Tool Review and Giveaway

Zyliss
For anyone who hasn't seen my crafty herb garden boxes made from wipe containers, you might not know that I am crazy obsessed with my edible gardening.  In Michigan we don't get much of a summer but you better believe I utilize every last bit of sunlight.  I actually start my seeds early in the year so they are ready to be transferred outside early spring.  Because I love to cook, I am very specific about the types of herbs I grow and plant them in large quantities.  Using fresh herbs in different recipes can make a huge difference.  Their flavor just pops as opposed to dried seasoning you buy at the grocery store.  If you've ever grown fresh herbs to use in your cooking, you know it can be a little pesky getting them prepped quickly.

Because you are using fresh herbs you really want to only cut what you need from the plant and use it right away so they don't start to dry out.  When making my spaghetti sauce, this is the last thing I prep.  When prepping fresh herbs, you first want to cut them from the plant, then pull the leaves off the stems if possible to avoid that gritty texture (although some stems are not bad).  Next you are going to chop the leaves (and few stem pieces) until they are the desired size for the appropriate recipe.  Again all of this can be such a pain and very tasky but not if you have the right tool.  I was so excited to discover the Zyliss FastCut Herb Tool!

Zyliss has been around for over 60 years, starting in Switzerland, Karl Zysset constructed his first kitchen tool - a garlic press.  From then on creating numerous high end kitchen prepping gadgets, Zyliss has seemed to provide many with their quality and innovative designs.

The Zyliss FastCut Herb Tool has 5 high grade stainless steel cutting wheels surrounded by a comfortable grip which cuts through your herbs in seconds.  Because there are two grip options you can choose which is more comfortable for you as you easily cut through the leaves and even stems of your fresh herbs.  Even better the top comes off for easy cleaning which we all know is important.  Plus I hate nothing more than a product that has little gaps I can't get to that build up with mold or left over water from the dishwasher.

I have to add another neat use my husband thought of for our Zyliss FastCut Herb Tool.  We use ours to cut the children's pizza as well.  It works just like a pizza cutter except much faster for cutting the little ones pizza into small squares.  This would be great for more than just the children's pizza!  It might make my job of catering for family parties quicker and easier. I might just have to go out and get a separate one to use this way as well!

Cost:  $14.99
Available to purchase: Zyliss Store Locator
Recommendation:  I definitely would recommend this to anyone who even prepares fresh meals on a rare occasion.  You never know if it may motivate you to cook from scratch more often.  If not this tool be sure to look at all Zyliss has to offer since a lot of their tools are priced very reasonably and can come in handy around the kitchen.

  1. I use fresh herbs and love this, going to have to check it out. I actually do cut my herbs ahead and then freeze them in ice cube trays with water, This is a way to have better herbs to cook with even when in a rush.
