Laundry Tarts Review and Giveaway

I've already told you all of my allergy to Tide detergent and originally when I first started reviewing products, I was quite hesitant in trying out all these so called "green friendly" laundry soaps.  I wasn't quite sure how my skin would react and whether or not they would be a cost effective option.  So before blogging and over the course of the last couple years I have tried to transition my family into a much greener world and one of those ways meant making my own cleaners at home (laundry detergent most specifically).  I know first hand how harmful some of the every day chemicals we use in our homes can be.  This has actually become a great eye opener as to what other options are out there.  I love trying new ecofriendly household products even when I make my own.  Several have replaced my own and I am confident using them around my family.

For the longest time I've been wanting to give Laundry Tarts a try but just never did until they recently asked me to review a few of their products.  They come available in ten yummy flavors - Apple Pie, Banana Bread, Birthday Cake, Black Forest Cake, Bubblegum, Key Lime Pie, Pina Colada, Rootbeer Float, Strawberry Shortcake, and of course unscented.  The first thing I noticed when I received these was wow, what an awesome smell.  I could distinctly smell the scent of the Rootbeer Float detergent so much it made my mouth water!!
In my sample pack I also recieved the scruptious Strawberry Shortcake scent as well as the Sweet Spot Stain Remover Stick and the Strip It! Pre- Treatment Formula.  One of the great things if you cloth diaper is this it all safe to use on the worst diapers which will come out looking like new.  I used the pre-treatment formula whenever I washed any towels or blankets used for the dogs and everything turned out very clean!  Also from what I can tell the stain remover stick worked its magic on all those wonderful drip stains left on the boys tshirts.
I have to say too that this was the cutest website I think I've ever stumbled across so far.  I did have a few complaints, myself, after using these for several washes.  Because I have front loader washers, I followed the specific directions on how much to use depending on the size of load.  Each time I did notice a little left in the compartment so I used less than recommended.

Also, I am a weirdo about the way my clothes smell...I don't want them to have no scent I want to smell like sweets if I am washing them in something like the strawberry shortcake.  Which they didn't so I was a little dissappointed.  Although, I need to remind myself that this is a good thing and only means that there are no chemicals adhering to your fabric and in turn it can being absorbed into your skin. Commercial detergents use phtlatlates which are like a waxy scent chemical that bonds to materials so that is why clothing smells fresh when in reality, it is made by odors.  But my clothes and especially the towels came out feeling very soft and bright!  I experienced no reaction to any of the clothes that I've washed so far so I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of this product!
"The Laundry Tarts adheres to a 100 mile rule, where all the ingredients, packaging, labels and manufacturing occur within a 100 mile radius, reducing carbon emissions and encouraging environmental awareness. Our products are completely biodegradable (including the packaging), hypoallergenic, 100% vegan and free of phosphates, EDTA, phthalates, parabens, SLS, SLES, nitrates, sulphites and chlorine (we are also one of the only companies to list ALL of their ingredients without misleading the consumer)!"

Cost: $6 The Laundry Tarts Sweet Spot Stain Remover Stick
     $20-24 (4lb - 72 loads) The Laundry Tarts Detergent
$10-14 Laundry Tarts Strip It! Pre- Treatment Formula
Where to Buy:  USA Retailers
Recommendation:  Honestly, I think these are great!  The cost is especially worth it if you have a front loader because to be honest you will need to use way less per load so they should last for quite some time.  The Strip It! Formula worked extremely well on the heavily soiled washes and again I didn't need much for my front loaders. I bet the other scents are just as amazing as the two I received so I'd like to give them a try too!
