Big Barker Premium Bed for Big Dogs Review and #Giveaway

Logo
When I was younger AND single, my dog was always allowed to sleep in my bed.  I did have a huge dog bed for Capone in the beginning but he always ended up crawling into bed with me to cuddle.  Again, because I've always considered them family, I believe they should have someplace to fall asleep and feel comfortable (even if that place is in a crate).  These furry family members shouldn't have to sleep on the cold, hard floor just because they are animals.

I was pretty pumped to discover this next company as it has been a while since we have had a true dog bed for the pups.  The beds we've had in the past were always cheaply made and never lasted.  I was beyond thrilled when I stumbled upon Big Barker Dog Beds and for more reasons than one!  Big Barker Bed makes one product and one product only, quality dog beds for large breed dogs.

Now not only do I know Capone, my 9 year old pup, is struggling with joint pain especially the older he gets, but both are big dogs and they need a bed that is designed FOR THEM.  I'm not going to get the same quality out of a bed or a brand that is made for  purse puppies!  My biggins need something that will support them comfortably AND actually last.  I've found that in Big Barker Beds!

I have truly fallen in love with every quality and option available for this premium dog bed!  These are made in the USA with a whopping 10 year warranty to not flatten!  They can be custom made to fit any style you are looking for or be personalized with your dogs name if that is an option you are interested in.

When our bed first arrived, I was in shock that it was actually in the tiny box, but it sure was air packed perfectly!Once out of the plastic it only took a few seconds to take shape and was bigger that I thought it was going to be. We got the Extra Large because of the size of both our dogs so it measures a perfect 52” x 36” x 7”.

Initially, the dogs were a tad confused about it since they haven't had a true dog bed in quite a while.  One of our previous dogs (in heaven now) used the last one as a place to pee so we stopped purchasing beds for a bit.

With the Big Barker bed, we don't have to worry about this being as big of an issue since the cover is BEYOND easy to remove since it has a zipper along 90% of the bottom of the bed.  We are actually able to wash the cover and put it back on easily (even if it shrinks a little in the dryer).  If you're really concerned you can even purchase a waterproof liner to go with the bed for extra protection.

Our dog Capone sheds white hair like crazy and everywhere constantly!  He, being the first to try the bed, laid on the bed for quite a while and while we thought for sure there would be tons of hair left when he got up, surprisingly there was none! Because of the extreme shedding, neither of them are allowed on the furniture.

So now not having to vacuum their bed 24/7 is going to be AWESOME!  This is definitely a huge benefit for me because constantly vacuuming so that it doesn't look disgusting has been an issue in the past and honestly, it's just a hassle. I love that even so, you can machine wash the cover easily if you need to as well!  The color matches almost exactly to our living room furniture too so that's another benefit as it fits in perfectly and doesn't look out of place in our home.

The other awesome feature of these bed is that your dogs of ANY weight can lay on this bed without directly touching the floor.  Even try standing on the bed yourself and you can only feel the foam and no floor (believe me I tried).  This is literally the Temperpedic version of dog beds!  We finally got both to lay on it comfortably with some bribing and now I honestly can't get them off!  I always know where to find them nowadays

The bed is so comfortable that even all three of my children have tested it out.  The boys are willing to fight the dogs for it some days, so it seems even they absolutely love it.  The other night Declan laid in it and watched a movie in the living room and was perfectly content falling asleep in it.  I think it's the funniest thing to watch and absolutely adorable that all my kids (furry and human) love laying in it together.

Available to purchase/Cost:  Starting at $219 Premium Dog Bed
Recommendation:  The price may seem high at first but it is actually very reasonable for this size and quality of dog bed if you ask me.  Dog beds of a quality made to last like this are hard to find and especially for a larger dog breed size.  This one seems to be a family favorite for both the furry and non-furry kiddos!

  1. I have 4 large breed dogs (one is a giant breed...a mastiff!) and it is really hard to find beds that fit my big kids. I saw this "If you're really concerned you can even purchase a waterproof liner to go with the bed for extra protection." and I think that it is a GREAT idea!

  2. I have two large beds in my dogs' crates and both have lost their shape...we are better off having a blanket in there! I love that the cover comes off and that it is soft and holds shape for our big dogs. Our 12 year old lab mix has hip issues due to age. Our 2 year old puppy loves all things soft to sleep on...our pillows are a favorite ! LOL

  3. I like that the dog is not laying directly on the floor. In the wintertime especially this can cause the dog to experience health problems.

  4. I have a Boxer named Izzy, and she is a year and a half years old!

Wheaten Terriers~I know they will love to snuggle with each other on it.

  8. I have a 1 year old cavalier king charles spaniel and he's too young to have joint problems now, but prevention is key. Normally I just give him some old pillows to lie on, but he doesn't really seem like them, maybe it's not comfortable enough, he would rather lie on the floor instead. I love that the cover is removable and has a waterproof option, it makes cleaning so much more easier.

  9. My dog Zoey is a part hound part spitz that we adopted from the SPCA. She is 11 years old and she has problems with her joints due too having lyme disease which she will always have problems with. She can get a shot to keep her from hopefully getting it again.

  10. The Barker Dog Bed sounds amazing! My dog is aprox. 78 lbs. and his current bed is one I picked up at a discount store. He does not seem to use it much so I'm thinking maybe it's not real comfortable. I love how you described the quality of the Barker bed and I love knowing the outside cover can be removed for washing.

  15. We have an 11 year old Golden Retriever who doesn't yet have any real problems with her joints. It still would be great to win this dog bed because she doesn't have one.

  19. I actually have 4 dogs - 2 of which are large-breed, but this would actually be for my 13-year-old Boston Terrier. He has had a spinal problem most of his life and he is currently in heart failure. We are just trying to do everything we can to make him as comfortable as possible for as long as he has left.

  21. We have been waiting so long to rescue a small dog and after searching for so long yesterday we adopted Bella. She is a Chihuahua mix and so sweet. She needs lots of love and attention as she has trust issues but already has begun trusting us. We have so much love to give her. She loves soft beds after being in a shelter her entire life. Bella is home!!

  22. I love that the cover comes off (easily!) and is washable. My poor dog sheds like nobody's business, so I'm sure that feature will be a lifesaver!

  23. This bed is impressive! I love that it comes with a 10 year warranty to not flatten. Every bed my pugs have had end up getting tossed out as they wear down so quickly! While both of my pugs are older, My 9 year old Pug struggles now days with any climbing or walking stairs. His back legs have grown tired. It sure is tough to watch your sweet pets age! It is also a big plus that this cover can be removed so easily for washing.

  24. I love that it is so supportive and thick. At 7" thick, even my Great Dane should be able to sleep comfortably without feeling the floor underneath her.

  25. My youngest kid, MEAT, is a 100+ lb White English Bulldog. We've bought him the cheap little dog beds in the past and once we taught him NOT to eat them, they still wouldn't hold up. The last one we bought just kind of deteriorated after a while. The fabric just fell apart. And they all would be as flat as paper after a while. My wife finally handed down an old Queen sized feather mattress topper to him and he loved it. After a few months though it got kinda gamey. I mean it smelled. LOL I tried to tell her not ot but my wife insisted on washing it. IN THE BATHTUB!! She looked like an I Love Lucy episode, where her and Ethel made wine, stomping grapes. Once she was satisfied that it was clean, I had to help her tote it outside and try to dry it. It weighed about 300 lbs. with all that water and wet feathers. We left it out in the 100 degree heat for several days, rotting it several times each day to dry, and once dried it smelled like a dead skunk. I ended up throwing it on the burn pile and getting rid of all the evidence. She had to go out and buy another el cheapo dog bed from Tractor Supply. It took us 3 days to get him to get back on it. He literally got sick from missing his bed. I know that it won't last more than a few months though. I'd give anything to win this one.
