Groovy Lab In A Box Review and #Giveaway

Einstein in a Box Home
Being that Dane is six now and is heading off to first grade this year, I realized we need to be spending more and more time working with him on early educational lessons throughout the Summer to get him prepared to love all things school related.  I've told you all Dane has always been way ahead of all the milestones and that's not me just bragging about my child.  As proud as I am I also think that's not always a good thing.  You then have children who don't know what to do with themselves because they are too little to get into the things that they are smart enough to.

With Dane and Alana so far apart in age (10 years to be exact), Dane has always  been very interested in the same things she is.  When Declan came along it became quite difficult to find an activity they can all do together without the typical sibling arguing or with one of them losing interest.  I was pretty thrilled when I discovered the brand Groovy Lab.  This is a monthly box subscription service that keep kids learning all while having a blast doing so.

It is so important for me to keep my children actively learning throughout this time especially so they keep the excitement up for when school time comes back around!  Each month you receive a project filled box which follow a monthly theme.  I was beyond thrilled to learn my box was focused on emergency preparedness which you all should know by now know I am big on teaching the kids all about,

Our "Here Comes the Sun" box included 3 main experiments - Solar Balloon, Solar Oven, and Conductivity Test.  While the boys were pumped to get going with the experiments, I was not.  After reading the instructions and understanding not only the amount of work but patience each of these was going to take, I knew the boys would be losing interest about half way through.

While I thought the idea of making the solar balloon would be cool, I was frustrated that we thought we could start on another one while we waited for the sun to blow the balloon up itself.  Unfortunately you had to do the solar balloon, then destroy it to make the solar oven!  What if we had started with the solar oven first?

I thought the solar oven was creative way to show the boys how to make one, how it works, and how to recycle broken crayons using it!  The conductivity test was a neat one for them to see as well.  Even though this is designed for 8+, so a little ahead of my boys, I still thought the idea behind it was a good one as well as very much interested each of them.  I just think the items could have been designed a little easier to create and be separate for each.

Recommendation:  I think this was both a fun and educational box that is on a great path to keep kids having fun while learning.  I do wish it was a little cheaper but again the materials provided are of a good quality!
