Christmas Crafting w/ the Kids AND #OrientalTrading

Christmas is always a special time of year for my family and even though we don't celebrate to the extreme that I did as a child, I want to celebrate in a similar magical way for my children.  This year has been a bit of a hectic one for my family as we've got a new little addition to our family.  Duncan gets into everything lately and always has us on our toes.  So this year, we've decided to let the kids run the show.  We are crafting it up and letting them decorate how they want around the house.

Now of course this means we got our shopping on at Oriental Trading.  This way we are saving while still being able to celebrate without cutting back.  The kids had a blast doing the shopping this time and with over 1000 Christmas products alone, there is guaranteed to be something for everyone.  Oriental Trading is "the nation's largest direct merchant of value-priced party supplies, arts and crafts, toys and novelties, and a leading provider of school supplies and affordable home décor and giftware. OTC has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Internet Retailers and one of the Top 50 Catalog Companies."

They have just about anything you can imagine and more.  Since we are letting the kids take part in everything, the first thing Dane picked out was a couple cookie exchange items so he could bake exactly how he's been wanting to.  Then, the kids picked out some DIY Clear Ornaments that they could all fill for the tree and personalize. We simply cut a small portion (about 12") of tinsel and fed it into the bulb.  After each of the kids picked the color of sparkles they wanted and we added a few shakes to make it even more glittery!  You can see mine below.

Then, they picked out several Christmas craft projects to pick something different to work on each week, plus they couldn't live without an advent calendar for each of them.  The silly faced bulbs below we simply colored with crayola marker (that way there wasn't much of a mess to clean up for mom.  We also got some cute Hand Print Craft ornaments which we haven't done just yet but I'm personally very excited for as an after Thanksgiving day craft.

Believe me when I say, you could spend hours shopping on their site as I've easily done so each time I start planning a celebration.  You will find it is totally worth a look and the prices are very reasonable and less than anywhere else I've found so far.  What I love is that even though we are in the Christmas season now, they still have thousands of Christmas products on sale too.  I cannot begin to brag enough about this company and how much money it can save you!

Recommendation: Go check this site out!  They have just about anything you can imagine and more.  You will find it is totally worth a look and the prices are very reasonable and less than anywhere else I've found so far.  I cannot begin to brag enough about this company or the countless hours you can spend shopping on their website!
