Pretty Mommies Skin Care Products Review and Giveaway (Chantel Introduction!)

Hi Everyone! My name is Chantel and I’m one of Randi’s good friends. I have helped her with product reviews in the past, when she has become overwhelmed with other projects Skoy Cloth. Or when she doesn’t have the ability to review the product- like the iPhone app Child Up Early Zoo .  Hopefully I become more of a regular around here, as Randi asked me to help with Pregnancy and Baby product reviews (since she isn't planning any more additions)! I hope I can lend some honest (and sometimes very opinionated, haha) reviews. I am currently 14 weeks pregnant with my third (gasp!) child. Jordan is my oldest at 11, he loves lacrosse and testing my patience & Chase is my 2 year old. He’s your average all-American boy going thru the terrible-twos. I love my kids with all my heart, even if I do want to hide in a closet occasionally, just so I won’t have to share my candy bar!

My first Pregnancy and Baby product review is on a newer company, called Pretty Mommies.  Pretty Mommies is a skin care line specifically for pregnant and nursing mothers. Did you know that if you are pregnant or nursing you can’t use a majority of the skin care products that you did before? I actually didn’t, and I’m ok admitting that too! Pregnancy hormones can do a number on an expectant mom’s skin…..from puberty like acne (Me! Me! Me!) to an actual skin condition that is accelerated by the sun called melisma or ‘the mask of pregnancy’, it’s a hyperpigmentation of the skin that will last until you give birth! Like you already don’t feel like a gigantic whale, now you have to deal with looking like Dick Van Dyke on Mary Poppins! Chim Chim Cherr-ee! Don’t believe me? Google it…..I was scared!

I have been fortunate enough to be in contact with Gina Zeiger, President/Founder of Pretty Mommies Skin Care. Her own pregnancy is what inspired the company- and she has even written how it came about- Gina's Story. Gina graciously sent me 2 complete kits, one for me to try out, and one as a giveaway! The skin care system has 3 parts: a cleanser, a skin brightener and an SPF. Now, I’m seeing some acne like I haven’t seen since middle school, kinda scary! I have noticed a significant difference in my skin’s texture, as well as a reduction in the acne I see. Even the ones that don’t totally go away, don’t last as long.

First and foremost let me tell you this stuff smells Ah-Ma-Zing! It has a citrus scent that is totally working for me since I have a very uneasy stomach lately. The cleanser is non-foaming and completely non-drying. I’m a self-admitted makeup junkie….(Hello, my name is…) the cleanser gets off even my toughest eyeliner and waterproof mascara, and that’s saying something!  The skin brightener is awesome at moisturizing and helping to achieve that 'glow' that doesn't always come naturally.  The SPF is a 30, so I personally feel as though I’m still getting a little sun, I’m still completely protected.

Recommendation:  Many OBGYN practices are beginning to carry this line in their offices, and I can understand why. You still are treating your skin well, but with the right types of ingredients that are safe for you and especially for baby. Now this isn’t an inexpensive system, The 3 piece kit retails on the website for $158. But if there was ever a time to splurge on yourself, now is it……You’re creating life for crying out loud!

  2. My name is Ashley. I have an 11 mo old and I am 4 mo pregnant with my 2nd child. During my 1st pregnancy, my dermatologist told me that I had one of the worse cases of malasma that she had ever seen. No pregnancy glow for me! As soon as I got pregnant this time, it started coming back. I would love to try these products! Thanks for the review!
